D is diarrhoea and C is constipation.

Thank you, oh dear I have both but I suppose mainly constipation. I'm up now in agony after eating cabbage at dinner time...the fibre gets me

I don't do cabbage. I don't eat many vegetables at all anymore, they all seems to cause problems!

I don't eat broccoli and didn't eat peas for years but am ok with some now. Eating Alpen once hospitalised me! It's a total nightmare as I'm diabetic too. Thanks for replying to me

It must be very difficult coping with IBS and being diabetic. I go long periods without eating but guess I couldn't do that if I was diabetic.

Yes it's difficult and never seem to get it right, IBS is horrible, I prefer my excruciating sciatica to IBS any day!

Yes it is a nightmare. I’m diabetic and I also have bile acid malabsorption which gives me diarrhoea. I also have high BP, cholesterol, hyper lipidemia and NAFLD. I have binder medication which you have to take an hour after medication and then wait 4 hours before taking anymore meds. Apart from binder meds (which is in powder format to drink) I have 15 tablets in total to take. 4 in morn 5 with lunch 5 with dinner and 1 at night. Timing is everything! I have to eat and take meds at a certain time otherwise my schedule goes out the window and I can end up with high or low sugars, meds not being absorbed properly and in pain from binder meds or diarrhoea. Fun fun fun

OMG. How do you keep going? I feel guilty now as I was feeling quite sorry for myself today but when I read your comment, I felt a fraud!

Omg don’t be daft. Some have it much worse than me. You get used to it. I’ve had diarrhoea for years but finally got the bam officially diagnosed. The other stuff I’ve had for 12 years but the diabetes only this year so I’m learning all the time. When I saw a nutritionist she said she was having a boring day til she read my file lol. Not absorbing things is a nightmare as being deficient in things brings its own issues. Back in July they gave me a diuretic for my puffy feet all my levels went mad. They thought at one stage I had pancreatitis. I ended up with blood tests twice a week, a scan and calls with doctors. 15 appointments in one month! My kidney function was heading towards a dangerous low level they referred me to renal unit. All because of the diuretic tablet. Stopped in and all levels went back to normal - well my normal. But it took 3 doctors to figure it out! They kept asking me if I was taking all my meds etc and chucked more tablets at me. Nightmare. All ok now though. Another Consultant appointment next week to check I’m all ok now. And work full time and peri menopausal and if I get 4 hours sleep that’s good for me. My partner wonders why I’m tired and grumpy sometimes. I just give him the look. But more people worse off that’s how I cope.

Well I think you are amazing to keep so upbeat about it all!

This sounds like hell, I'm sorry. Do you get bile breath with the BSM? People keep mentioning it to me

Not so much with the bam but at first I had acid reflux too and that gave me bad breath. I told some meds for that for a couple of months and luckily they worked and I don’t need them anymore. Some normally day to day it’s ok. If I have a bad flare up of it then it can get a bit pongy again.
