Been a long time since I had to post, thought I had my IBS under control! Yesterday was a massive wake up call.
Woke to extreme cramps despite having taken laxido the night before, I just couldn’t open my bowel at all, couldn’t pass wind and kept having child birth level contractions, not sure how I made it through work but anyway unable to eat anything the pain worsened and I had regular fever spikes.
I barely slept last night but had taken laxido and 2 capsules of high strength senna.. this morning still in lots of pain had a bowel movement but the cramps have continued. I went to GP who’s advised 2 doses per day of laxido, regular pain relief, anti spasmodic and a liquid diet, but to call 111 if the pain worsens this evening.
I’m exhausted feel like my insides have been ripped out and put through a shredder, had two bouts of loose stools since and now left with what I can only describe as the biggest stitch type pain ever across my lower abdomen. I can’t even walk upright properly due to the pain😓
Meant to be going on holiday on Sunday I’m so scared I’m not going to feel better or end up in hospital.
Anybody else had an attack like this?
I wasn’t even constipated the days prior to the attack so don’t understand what caused this? Though I had been rather stressed out.

This sounds horrible - Im so sorry. I wouldnt even put it down to stress, Ive learn that IBS just plays roulette constantly however there are little things we do without realising that may cause it. Is your main IBS constipation or the opposite? I seesaw between both, thankfully c* but never seem to get bloating or cramps just that feeling of needing to go but not being able to. Have had d* on and off though since may which is the worst thing in my op.
You had a colonoscopy?
Ive had months of bad cramps, gas etc and last night had this HORRIBLE pain in my upper tummy and chest and i literally feel like my body is a ghost playing tricks - IBS is no joke, its all down to our diet apparantly (I had mcdonalds last night right before bed and apparantly didnt let it digest) so my advice would be to just do ANYTHING you can that makes you feel better - try not to take meds as this can deffo make things worse!!!!
Can you maybe go to a doc before your hols?
I hope you are feeling better sickandsore
You did not mention your diet? Are you controlling your symptom through food choices? Are there any food types that exacerbate your symptoms?
Why not consider starting a low FODMAP diet. If you are interested reply and I will give you some more info...
I completly know how you feel. I thought I had everything uncontrol with IBSD (understanding the pattern and making changes to adjust) and suddenly I have IBSC! I am due to go on holiday too and not sure whether I will be able to make it. I seem to feel the need to go to the toilet all the time but I dont actually need to go, but I only feel comfortable when sitting on the toilet. Struggling to see how to cope with day to day life if this is the case. I just keep praying it is going to settle down, but everyday it continues. I hope it gets better for you.
Hey there, like you I thought I had the whole IBS thing under control. But the last few months the attacks happen more frequently but the pain is summat else.....worse than any pain I've ever felt.
I too have been doubled up in pain unable to move.....I'm currently on day 4 of pain and tbh its getting me down now. 😖
