Swollen glands, bad breath and joint pain

Hello everyone!

I have so many questions and frustrations regarding my IBS... I'm having a bad flare up and so I'm questioning everything.

I think I'm getting worst instead of better. I started to have joint pain which wakes me up during the night... and my breath is absolutely horrendous...

I'm 26 years old and this started almost a year ago . I was diagnosed simply based in blood and stool samples - no further tests done or follow up appt. I've been to the out-of-hours gp during a weekend due to extremely abdominal pain just to leave feeling guilty to have bothered them with the same feeling when you're a kid and you have a sore tummy but everybody thinks you just dont want to go to school.

Theres history of autoimmune diseases in my family and my grandpa had colitis. However the gp seemed happy to say its IBS even though I haven't done any US or colonoscopy ...

How were you guys diagnosed ? Do you also get night sweats, joint pain and swollen glands on top of everything else ?

Have you had a Calprotectin test on your faeces? What was the number?

The problem is that the colonoscopy and endoscopy are very expensive to have and analyse. Your symptoms,( breath and joint pain) suggest tummy and inflammation, which is a sign of IBD, but is also a sign of bad IBS. Maybe you could find out what your Calprotectin levels were and, if over 100, it might be worthwhile asking for a referral to a gi consultant. By the way the highest reading I have heard of , recently, is 984. ?Good luck

There's no test for ibs so it is eliminating other things by tests for them. Without those tests there can b no diagnosis.

Hi, I understand the bad breath, joint pains yes, but I didn't get that till late 20s/early 30s, and it started off very mild. The thing that jumps out at me is the swollen glands. I have never heard of anyone having swollen glands before with IBS. If they are still swollen I would make an appointment with your GP.
