Everytime I go on holiday my bowels stop working and I 'can't go' all week, my abdomen gets bigger as the week progresses and its so uncomfortable. Does anyone else get this and have you any recommendations to prevent it?

holiday ibs
Sorry about that. There are greater chances of IBS going down when I'm on holiday. Kinda the reverse in my case
I had similar experience and it is horrible.
What helps me, is to try and replicate the morning routine that works at home - black coffee first thing in the morning and so on. Also during the day I try to eat enough food containing fibre - salads, vegies, bananas and avoid food that constipates me, like bread or rice. I also always take some laxatives with me, just in case.
Hopefully you will find out what works for you. Good luck.
Wish I had an answer. I have been chronically constipated for decades. I can *never* go on my own..So you are lucky..this only happens this once or occasionally. I take daily stool softeners which don't help much and Senna-lax on Sunday's just to have a movement. Have you tried strong coffee? No creamer? That will stimulate your bowels..or maybe try Magnesium citrate in those small bottles. You will have a movement in about 1/2 hour to three hours. It works well and quick. Senna is also an excellent laxative. Or try 3 caps of Miralax/Movicol in 64 ounces of Gatorade. Although it doesn't usually work for me due to severe and chronic constipation It does for others. Hope you feel better soon. ☺
I know it’s bloody awful isn’t it
This morning I had problems, the black coffee didn’t work so had to use a sachet of Movicol 😬
Whenever I go away from home I get constipation. Cant go for days. I drink alot if water and walk for exercise and try not to worry about it. It always happens when I travel.
Yes I always get this problem. It usually resolves itself on the last day of holiday and then I worry about travelling home.
Thanks for the detailed post.
What do you eat and drink normally, and does it change when you go on holiday?
