Constipation and overflow diarrhoea.

Hi everyone,

Recently I’ve just started doing my GCSE’s and have become very anxious and nervous dew to stress and anxiety. This has made various symptoms start, such as constipation. But I had constipation yesterday after school and then to overflow diarrhoea. Which I’m sure a lot of you know a lot about? I was just wondering how long overflow diarrhoea lasted? It’s just I don’t want to have to deal with such a thing during my exams for the next few weeks.

Hope you are all well, thanks in advance 👍🏻

Dear Hazzaj,

Really sorry to hear that.

I can empathise with your problem which personally I first discovered during chemotherapy treatment.

Can you say what you have tried so far to improve your symptoms. Also can you please describe a typical day of your diet (everything you eat and drink).

First though I want to implant a thought into your head.

We now live in the internet age, so a single set of exams is not a be all / end all (and don't be fooled by anyone that tries to pressurise you and persuade you otherwise)

Try to think: The worst thing that can happen is you can pass your exams. That is hard to get your head round, and I've always struggled with that thought, but keep it in mind.

Can you get a phone appoint with your GP after school ? (I guess you have too much study to attend an appoint).

I would expect them to probably recommend more fibre in your diet. There are also supplementary forms such as Psyllium you can buy on the high street and take. Get professional advice from your GP on that before taking long term, and make sure to follow the manufacturers instructions.

Your body is under more stress with the study, so go easy on it, and try to give it a periodic break .

Good luck with the study, and wishing you well,

Ernest
