Had diarrhoea for several months now. Starting to feel like this is more than just run of the mill IBS as I never get constipation. In the last couple of weeks I have been getting a lot of pain both before and after relieving myself in my pelvis and when I stand up straight I get a tugging sensation usually where I experience period pain, but its not the crampy kind of pain I associate with that time of the month. Is this the result of having so many explosive bouts of diarrhoea or is it something more sinister. I am kind of worried but any time I go to the GP re. IBS I find they are very dismissive about my symptoms. Any advice?

Its prob cramping spasms ie what u get when ur on period is more or less same cramping as u get with 💩. That why if u look at buscopan they do one for ibs and one for periods but there exactly the same drug!
But ones more expensive and we can all guess which one... rip the women off that already have to buy sanitary wear.
So i have both, crippling periods with bloating and ibs so i use buscopan for both as a pharmacist told me about it and it really really works... more so with my periods i find
I don't know what period pains are like, but I tend to agree with Lulububs. Also, if you are having that much diarrhoea, make sure that you are replenishing the salts and vitamins with your diet, and not just water.
Hi, I don't have periods anymore, too old haha, but when I did have periods and my IBS was more runny, I used to find that although I might not have been on a period, I would still get period type pains on and off. I put it down to the bowel pushing on the womb. I also get period pain now and again still, which again I put down to the bowel pushing on my womb, although now I am not as runny and sometimes feel constipated, but I guess it's all pressure whether it's liquid or solid!
Some people won’t do what I do as they say there is side effects but I haven’t noticed any. I take Kratom my IBS D has stopped with the cramping in the gut so bad that I almost fainted once got dizzy etc. they are called vasovagals the cramping pain is horrible. I had the diarrhea off and on for a week. I take it almost everyday I skip a day or so when I am really good. It does make me have a little IBD C constapation but I skip a day or two and I am fine really has made my IBS manageable. Plus helps with the depression and gives me energy to keep going.
Have you been referred for any tests to be sure that you really have IBS and not anything more sinister?
Tell your GP you are extremely anxious about it and would like to be checked out thoroughly to be sure that your problem is actually IBS and not something else. Remind them of the cases that you see in the papers about young people who discover they have bowel cancer and doctors discounted it because ‘they were too young’ maybe that will scare your GPs into action.
Not only that - worrying like you are will not help your bowels, stress is very bad, so he shouldn’t be dismissive which is only increasing you ur anxiety he should be doing all he can to help.
Basically though if nothing sinister shows up in your tests then by a process of elimination then you have IBS. Seems to me diagnosis is a process of eliminating other things.
The only thing I got was last year a bloodtest for gluten intolerance. I have never been given a colonoscopy as I have never had any bloody stools that I am aware of. The blood test came back negative though. The runs have been going on 6 months and part of me feels its stress & diet related but I want to be cleared for colon cancer as this is my biggest fear as I know 2 people who have died under 50 from it (not related to me in any way). I also was checked for PCOS but I have reg periods which are very heavy unlike those typical of PCOS and they could only get a view of my right ovary which was shown to be clear. I am very overweight and have an underactive thyroid.
I feel for you. I have had what I describe as period or early labour pains for the last 6 - 8 weeks. I had a colonoscopy a few years ago so that’s ok. I am having an abdominal and pelvic mri today. I differ with constipation mostly but also have bouts of looser stools. I feel constantly full as if I’m full of gas and I also get a pulling/movement feeling in my lower abdomen. I thought I was pregnant when this all started as it felt very much the same! All my bloods have been ok.
