College student with IBSC. Please help

So I went to a GI doctor today and they diagnosed me with IBS-C. My doctor told me to take 8-10 FL oz of magnesium citrate today and then start Linzess tomorrow. I am also now on low fodmap diet.

Should I be considered that I haven’t had a bowel movement even from taking this high intensity laxative?

As well, has anyone had relief with Linzess?

I start taking it tomorrow morning.

As well I am going to get hydrotherapy as a last resort 😔

My bloating makes me look 9 months pregnant and I am so depressed I can’t even leave my bed some days. I am honestly freaking out and don’t know what to do anymore. I really hate where I go to college like I said in my last post, but have to finish out the semester.

Please if anyone has any advice or experience I would really appreciate it.

Magnesium citrate is a common solution for constipation. You should drink plenty of fluid when taking it, but it can cause bloating and wind.

That may be why you are looking as if you are pregnant!

Linzess is not a laxative, it is prescribed for IBS C. Never taken it myself though, so no idea how good it is!

Is it worry-sum that I still haven’t gone to the bathroom after taking the magnesium citrate?

I'm on Linzess and was taking it in the morning then would have several bowel movements within 2hours usually 6 and 7 on the Bristol scale. Still constipated in the evening so irrigate my colon. This week I started taking tablet in the evening but nothing happens until I irrigate. I don't get bloating with it. Hope this helps.
