Long story short id been suffering with bouts of constipation, bloating, pains for months Dr thought it could be ovarian cancer after a ca125 test was raised its taken three months loads of test to find out thankgod its not instead I've been told its a bowel issue.

I altered my diet radically and have been living on home made soups, fish, basically a veggie diet for a month.I've had no stomach pain or bloating, no bleading, constipation caused piles I feel great, but the weight has dropped off I've lost a stone in under a month.

Everytime I eat something I previously enjoyed its almost instant within 15 mins pain, bloating ect.

Is this how life is going to be from now on just to stay well.

Hi, i have not tried it myself but other people on this forum speak highly of the low fodmap diet. I'd recommend that you seek a referral to a dietician from your gp and you can then explore with them about expanding your diet. It can also be useful to keep a food diary linked to symptoms. Glad you have found relief from your symptoms in the meantime. Good luck

Probiotics might help too - yakult or optibac maybe.

Also flax seeds are supposed to be good for C.

Papaya is very good for the gut also. Its easily available in supermarkets now.

You may be limiting more from your diet than your strictly need to. I would recommend you get a referral to a dietician. When I was diagnosed as IBS, they made me go on an extreme diet where virtually everything was off limits for about a week, pretty much had rice cakes and water as I recall. Then every few days one new food type was introduced. It was very difficult, but it showed up that I couldn't digest anything from Allium family. I'd already worked out I had to avoid lactose, but Allium was a shock, onion and garlic are in so many foods – it's actually very hard to avoid. But finding that out the actual triggers was a game changer for managing my IBS pain.

When I've eaten out and accidentally eaten something I shouldn't then getting some Buscopan quick enough is key.

Other than Buscopan, I do find that drinking Aloe Gel drink (I got the Forever Living one) each morning does help settle the gut. It was the only thing that helped prior to working out what was triggering it. I only drink it now when suffering stress IBS.
