Not a nice topic so apology in advance. I think I may have ibs not diagnosed yet. But recently I've notice a lot of mucus in my stools and when I wipe. The only thing is I've noticed it's began to smell bad. I'm having normal stools just covered in this mucus is this normal for IBS? Waiting for test result from doctors just conceded.

Hello! I get this too and it used to concern me so i did a bit of reading about it. Apparently our bodies produce some mucus anyway which u may notice in stools but if it increases (mine does during a flair up). Its usually because theres something underlying that causes inflammation which in turn causes ur body to produce more mucus to protect itself. This could be anything from a health condition to an intolerance or allergy. Best to get checked out! Hope this helps 😊
A normal stool will have a thin coating of mucous to ease passage through the proctum and rectum. It should be invisible so if excess is produced see your doctor.
i have the same problem and it smells very bad, also having to go to the bathroom many times, i just can take it anymore
