Unsure about digestive health

Hello. I am 16 years old and have been having this problem for over three weeks now. I frequently have stomachache after eating but usually only at nighttimes, and many times I have woke up in the middle of the night with stomachache or nausea (but I have not been physically sick). Sometimes it is relieved when going to the toilet (it was sometimes diarrhoea) but other times it hasn’t and I just went back to sleep (in which it seemed to have gone afterwards). The one or two nights I’ve had nausea I also was shaking and cold so I thought I was going to vomit, but I didn’t. I absolutely HATE vomiting (I would even say I have a fear of it, followed by a constant dread) so it really affects me mentally as I really hate it (I’m rarely ever ill). The frequent stomach discomfort is really agitating (especially at night, interrupting sleep) but the last few days it hasn’t been so bad, apart from two nights ago when I had nausea again.

Last night and the night before I slept perfectly fine, but still after meals I have had some form of stomach discomfort. I cut down on fizzy drinks and other foods a week ago, which seems to have helped. I have frequently had pizza recently (due to parents getting home late from work and it being easy to cook) which is usually when it’s worse (usually when I have nausea like the the other night) so I’ve been avoiding that the past couple of days. One of the most annoying things is the loss of appetite/no feeling of hunger, but I’ve still been eating but that hasn’t seemed to clear up recently.

My mom has IBS, so I was wondering maybe if I did too (I don’t know if it’s genetic). I really don’t know how to explain it. I haven’t had any bug/flu symptoms just the stomach discomfort or sometimes nausea as well as loss of appetite. Besides this I have still been eating normal sized meals. It is just at night when it comes on.

Has anyone got an idea to what it could be? My step mother gave me indigestion tablets after I had stomach discomfort once and it cleared up fast and felt the best I had, paracetamol also seems to help (but I think it’s just a placebo because I don’t think paracetamol helps relieve nausea or discomfort). I really don’t know so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions as well please feel free to ask them.

Well i find a big help taking Colpermin three times a day but not close to eating give it 15-20 mins and try and take it 4 to 5 hours between each dose if poss., but if you get any bloating try Bi-carbonate of soda in warm water (a Teaspoon of it)and i find its a big help( just make space between each thing you take and meals too.?)

You may also be lactose intolerant. Pizza has cheese, which has a lot of lactose. Stop all dairy products which contain lactose and if the pain goes away then you have your answer. Many dairy products, but NOT cheese, come in lactose free varieties. If you still have the pain after this, see your doctor.
