Yes indeed! And then ‘they’ say a lot of people with IBS ‘suffer from anxiety’. !! Well I think being anxious away from home is a normal response to fearing you may not make it to a loo in time. No amount of CBT is going to cure that - though breathing properly and learning relaxation techniques can help.
Breathing seems to make it worse because I’m actively acknowledging that I’m ill. Idk ibs and anxiety r weird haha defo have tried meditation and stuff but I just don’t have the concentration
Hairdressers all have bathrooms. It would not be a problem to say, in the middle of your hair treatment, "sorry, I have to run to the bathroom." This happens to people who don't even have IBS.
Yh it’s the stress of having to be in that chair haha I have agoraphobia (fear of not being able to get away/ open spaces) town, appointments, traffic etc.. it’s a stress for me personally
After 6 different types of meds (kalion morphine, mebeverine x4, ibuprofen x2, propranolol x2, Imodium x2 and rescue remedy) I made it and only had anxiety (no attack) when sat in her chair. I LOVE MY HAIR AND MY NEXT MISSION IS THE WEDDING ON THE SAME DAY
I agree with b1.... I hope your appt. went alright!... but I had to learn to just be OPEN about it (even if some people think that ibs is just nothing but a 'little diarrhea now and then! ).... I know its easier said then done...but finally, you just have to reach that point of thinking: I'm not going to worry about it...I'll DEAL WITH IT if and when it gets here. What I used to build up in mind was ALWAYS worse than whatever happened...
Yes I always worry about making any kind of appointment, and have had to cancel dentist, hair and others during a flare up. Told hairdresser have ibs, and if I have to cancel at short notice she is very understanding, so makes me feel less anxious
