Sertraline for IBS?

Hi all,

Hope your all doing ok! Has anyone ever been prescribed Sertraline to help with IBS? If so, how did you find using it? I’ve just been prescribed it & im struggling with headaches. & insomnia!

Any help or advice is really appreciated! X

Hi Samantha, I have been on Sertraline for two years because of anxiety which hit me like a train...I'm afraid it has made no effect on my ibs at all....as far as your insomnia, I was put on Amitryptaline at night.this makes me sleep all night.....only thing I have some really weird dreams!

Hello, aw I’m sorry your struggling with anxiety. I used to take amitriptyline and then they moved me to Sertraline and I’m having such low moods etc. Amitriptyline does make you sleep but I’m now suffering with insomnia. Hopefully it’ll settle soon.
