They do indeed. If I end up with antibiotics and sometimes there is no option I always take a good probiotic to build up the good bacteria. When my husband (who doesn’t have IBS) had to take antibiotics following a hip replacement I got him probiotics to take - he even found a probiotic that was designed to be taken at the same time as his antibiotics. He also drank those probiotic drinks and ate lots of live yoghurt. So there is a lot you can do to help your gut if you do end up having to take antibiotics.
What happened to your Harley Street Lady, Deborah Grant?!
Antibiotics are a mixed blessing....if you ABSOLUTELY need them and Dr says to TAKE them...ok...but not long term... They CAN help certain situations, but if possible, avoid them if there is ANY other way of 'getting over' what you are dealing with. The more a person takes, the stronger becomes the need for even STRONGER antibiotics... after you have finished the amt you are told to take make SURE to take GOOD probiotics to build up your system again with good bacteria...eat lots of yogurt--it helps too!! Good luck!!
