Hi guys

I have been diagnosed with ibs about a year but i have suffered stomach wise all my life but it has just got so much worse in last year so much so that i can b ok one minute then doubled over sweating in pain the next.

I have no idea what im supposed to do or take when have these attacks. I take all the things people have told me to ie peppermint oil caps, probiotics, digestive enzymes.

I make sure im always regular.

I dont eat gluten or dairy or yeast or pop garlic onion brocoli cauliflower all the normal ones “ just incase” but there is no sense to my attacks. They can come any times of the day, they will b so painful in colon il b doubled over in pain. I take hot peppermint tea and all the things people say ie hot water bottles but still i get these attacks.

I can b fine no problem whatsoever for months then il have a bout of it, the pain immense and i just can do nothing but lay there then il get desperation to poop ans il go 3-5 times and then pain goes? It will still b really sore but the major pain goes?

Sorry if im rambling as u can prob tell i am in middle of a attack laying on floor sweating with buscopan and hottie and im at end of tether as all ive eaten today is gluten free cereal that i always have and a Gluten free crumpet which i always have so nothing new...

So why??? Please someone help me out im at a total loss. It always in my left hand side nowhere else and it just like being stabbed

You sound in a lot of pain, I'm so sorry . I recently had a CT scan of my colon and the consultant told me left side was most common for acute pain as its a tighter 'bend' in that area. You might also have areas of diverticular which is also painful of food gets stuck there. Did you have milk with cereal or do you use an alternative ? Hope you are feeling better soon x

Hey

Lucky pains gone abit since earlier ( i had alot of pooping) and things seem to have eased.

I am gluten and dairy free i have soya milk. I think to tell truth i need to deal

With my constipation, i think it could b back up of not pooping for couple days.

I have had colonoscopy and mri for diverticulitus and im free from it apparently. Thats what i thought it was but i think it could b constipation as i have suffered ever since i was a baby.

I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better. I'm the opposite I tend to have IBS D but both are crippling. Take care of yourself X

I am gluten sensitive now — have SEVERE gastroparesis and have had 2 gastrectomy surgeries.

You might want to keep track of what foods trigger when you have these symptoms... with ibs probiotics and fiber etc are some of the first recommendations, but as in my case I have to watch my fiber.

When we did the fiber (before gastroparesis diagnosis was confirmed) I thought I was literally going to die. The abdominal pain was excruciating; I was in a ball with heat on my stomach praying to have someone cut out my intestines.

Not every treatment works for everyone with IBS, it’s basically a trial and error — the same with the probiotics. Right now we are trying to find the right ones for me - ALIGN and ACTIVIA don’t work for me.

Good luck

Hi, I'm going through something similar..just keep getting worse and worse. In the past year have had extreme weight loss. Even the smallest meal makes me cramp badly. It's no way to live. Have lost all social life. Doctor's, Colon and Rectal Surgeon, Specialists just dismiss me. I only have Medicare, or I would try Dietician, Holistic or Chiropractic. Tired of Doctor's who don't care. Have you tried Bentyl or Levsin?

With Medicare they cover if you have malabsorption problems vs just weight loss. I see nutritionist regularly and they cover it. Malabsorption they consider to be medically necessary, they even just approved Ensure High Protein drink supplements for me too bcuz I’ve lost 80lbs bcuz of dietary problems from IBS and gastroparesis.

I also have Rx for Reglan to take before meals, Zofran for nausea.

Oh..wow..that is the best news I have heard in a very long time, and it gives me hope. 👍😎. I am seeing a dietician soon, and Ensure or Boost is so expensive for those small bottles. I'm on SSDI disability, so am on fixed income. I was thinking about "Weight On" that comes in a tub that my Dad bought me at some drug store when I was about 18, when I was very thin. I think it worked, but don't think they sell it anymore. I live in the States..and wonder if Medicare would cover that here, and If Will have to look up Reglan, not sure if it is sold in the United States..Thank you so much, will definitely check into this..✌👏

I live in US and am also on SSD... Medicare will only cover under medical necessity which malabsorption of nutrition is - doctor has to specifically write MEDICALLY NECESSARY this as medical reason and write a prescription. Mine got filled through mail order pharmacy ByramHealthcare.com and my Medicare Part D Express Scripts approved 150 bottles of Ensure High Protein per month.

Oooh little toad im in so much pain!

I just made hubby look there is no yeast in them , i thought there wouldnt b as i do check and there one i always have( i tend to never change food, stick to what i know).

I think i may be compacted ( if u know what i mean😉)as i have been nursing a old ripped bicep injury that decided to rear its ugly head( or arm) last two weeks and i been on strong meds and they have had a horrible effect... not gone for 3 days!!!

I think it is as i have terrible back ache which apparently is it sat on sacro nerve !

So im trying to unblock the old tubes lol!!!

It is the worst pain EVER

It sounds like you might have pancreatitis, caused by EPI, endocrine pancreatic insufficiency/ lack of digestive enzymes. Ask your doctor anout testing. This is treated with creon, digestive enzymes. And maybe BAM, bile acid Malabsorption. This is helped with questran. Low stomach acid can be one major cause of these. There are other factors.

To tell truth i think it was good old fashioned constipation!!! I always suffered with it and i have had a shoulder injury flare up last couple weeks so been taking STRONG cocodamol and i usually take lactulose with it but forgot to get some and i dont think ive really had a proper poop for about a week!

I think by yesterday i had quite a back up and the pain was horrific.... i took some lactulose ate a banana , drank 1 litre of water and basically i havent stopped for 12 hours so i had quite a back up there( TMI) ..

Lesson learnt!!

I feel bad for you, Lululubs, because I know how awful that feels. My body got so sensitive I couldn't even take paracetamol. When things got bad I went to see a reiki energy specialist. And that took the pain down a few notches. It was welcome relief.

For me the pain was neuro-muscular. That can be solved if you are willing to find and address the triggers behind it.

Can you explain more behind this so i could mayb look into it.

Im getting fed up now to tell truth Alison. I had a trip to a&e about year ago id had constipation( i always had constipation) it had me doubled over in pain eventually it came out and i was okish but it had my colon extra sensitive and it had sat on my sacra nerve and started pain there which i still get when im clogged up.

Ive done everything they asked i went gluten, dairy, yeast and sugar free, no processed foods.

I dont drink alcohol which at this moment i could do with ( lol) what more do i do...

I still constipated! I take movical.

I can only think as i said earlier i have a bad shoulder injury been taking strong painkiller and it seems to make me worse and i think it had built up and yesterday i was literally doubled over in pain, i could have fainted the pain was so severe.

Eventually i pooped and what do ya know? Pain went....

so it was obv constipation.

I didnt know it could b so painful i felt like my colon was being ripped out

So you need to find out what's behind the constipation. I imagine you have already been checked out for any functional problem. I have a number of articles on my blog on this subject that you may find of interest: sickofibs.com

Ok thanku il take a look.

Yep i have been totally checked even a colonoscopy as they thought diverticulitus but nothing.

I think i have ruined my colon( extra sensitive) of years of comstipation. As if im regular

And stick to my poop routine( yes that what i call

It) and healthy eating

No gluten blah blah i have no ibs symptoms...

I wander if i even have it i think it just plan old constipation

Hi sorry to hear about your pain. I am suffering for 40 years now with pain in my lower left abdomen . I have been for gastroscopies and colonoscopies, you name it. There is no medicine that I have not tried. I am constipated and it seems to contribute a lot to the pain. I also try to stay regular. Stress is also a big contributor to i.b.s. They recently put me on anti depressants and I must say the pain is much less now. People also say Reiki treatment helps a lot but I did not try it yet. All I can say is that I have a heart for you because people who don't have this don't understand how horrific this is. Hang in there and my prayers go out to all I.B.S. sufferers. Thanks.
