Being Missed diagnosed with IBS

To all my ladies out there that have been diagnosed with IBS. I was misdiagnosed with IBS when in fact I have endometriosis that is causing the symptoms of IBS. So if you have been diagnosed with IBS you might also want to check with a gynecologist and make sure that you don't have endometriosis. Especially if you have been trying everything to fix your IBS and it is still a problem.

I do suffer with ibs but also had a large ovarian cyst which my gp kept telling me was IBS, eventually it grew to 15cm by 20 cm and I had to have a hysterectomy ! Even the day before the scan my GP was saying that they wouldn’t find anything it was just my bowels playing up. !

Interesting ! may I ask what were your symptoms that have been mistaken for IBS ?? was it Diahrrea ? Constipation ? Both ? Spasms ? was your period regular monthly ??

They did pick it up on the scan when the doctor finally sent me for one but she didnt send me for one as she put the symptoms down to IBS Symptoms were severe bloating and I could feel a large mass in my stomach, she said I was feeling my bowel which was hard as I was constipated from the IBS ! Yes periods were fine.

Hey

Mine was oposite, i was misdiagnosed with endo had all lap done all test and nothing since found out it was ibs c due to gluten and dairy intolerances.

They are very similar.

Also there is alot of big muscles in them areas so it can b muscular, ur psoas , lumber and sciatic nerve all sit round bowel colon area so sometime all those muscles get really tight especially if u suffer pain in that are b it endo or ibs.

I actually seeing a good osteo who deals with digestive issue in that area and since she been massaging out my hip and groin and belly area on left side it has all eased alot. Think i was carrying alot of tension in that area.

Yes well i have hypermobilty syndrome so am over flexible which give me alot of pain in joint and muscles ..

I noticed the pain flares up alot when ive over done it physically and i have trouble digesting and i got a constant ache in my groin.

So i started to wander if it wasnt endo and then when laps came back clear i just to watch it alittle bit more and noticed when i do yoga stretching in morning i dont hurt all day but if like today ive had to work and not been able to stretch it worse!

I seen a good osteo who explained sit that all muscle sit on each other and if there inflammed it can effect ur periods ur bowel and bladder

This was exactly what I had. I didn't have periods so they couldn't diagnose endo properly and kept saying I had stress caused IBS. Yes it is quite stressful feeling like your insides are being ripped out without anyone knowing why. They found when I finally convinced them to operate on me stage 4 endo, pelvic inflammatory disease, 2 ovarian cysts and blocked/scarred fallopian tubes. I still have IBS hence why I am on here but the endo was the main problem
