Just got out of hospital this morning

Hi all , i thought I had IBS for many many years , then suddenly last week the pain in the middle of the lower abdomen and temperature , plus the then inability to go to the toilet at all made me go to the doctor . I was sent to hospital and had bloods and the white count was very very high , so they did a CT scan and found my problem. I was kept in hospital 4 days until the temperature went down , Ive been on IV for 4 days , flagyl , and have another 9 days at home with amoxicillin. Ive got to follow a no residue diet for 3 weeks , visit the consultant after that and have a colonoscopy in 6 weeks, as there is colon wall thickening .

Be great full for any advices , I’m in shock about it all.

Hi there glad you found out what was really wrong with you and you are going to get the proper treatment I’m sure they will sort your problems for you now it has been recognised keep your spirits up and look forward to being well again when it is all over I wish you all the best and will be thinking about you love chrissyx

Hi the same thing happened to me in January, I spent 4 days in hospital on I V antibiotics and another ten days on tablets at home about 6 weeks later I had a sigmoidoscopy but they found nothing wrong and I’ve been ok since obviously have to watch what I eat, I also make sure I drink plenty of water. Hope things are ok for you try not to worry.

Oh I’ve been there two years ago, never ever will forget it. Please if your in Australia tell the Drs to give you vancomycin instead , it’s expensive but don’t worry it’s on the PBS so you don’t pay much for it. Flagyl didn’t work for me instead turned me into a mentally insane person . Gave me fears and panic attacks and the shakes . I said to the Dr if I stayed longer on prob would have taken my life . That’s the worst and cheapest anti biotic on the market . Yes then for two months I took vancomycin and DONT forget take a good pro biotic once a day ( take the probiotic 1.5hrs after your evening dose of flagyl or vancomycin) Also now Colon was stuffed for a good year after medication . I’m finally better now , still get left side pain but that’s that . I had c diff .
