hospital dash and feeling scared

so standing in the kitchen tonight and could feel something trickling down my arm so looked and my picc line had started dripping blood as I must of have caught it or something. Completely panicked and out of control had to drive 1 hour and something minutes to the musgrove park hospital In Taunton as I thought I was slowly bleeding to death so got to hospital and they dressed it and cleaned me up. Apparently this happens.... with picc lines . who knew xxxxxxxxx

Poor big Shaun xxxxxx

Very nice to hear from you. I am glad you were able to get to the hospital and get things fixed. Standing in the kitchen though, is a good sign. Were you cooking? Sending warm wishes for a good night's sleep after the unanticipated hospital trip. x

Glad you are home now. Emergency room trips are always very upsetting one way or another. I assume you are in the UK, so it is pretty late. Just a very long stressful day for you, but you got it done!! Sleep well. x

Gosh, that is scary for you . You are one tough cookie to drive yourself to hospital My respect. I send you my kindest thoughts and prayers right now.

It sounds like you live vaguely in my area....I live in south west UK not far from Glastonbury. Been to Musgrove a few times for various probings and proddings!

Wishing you get a bit of peace and some easier times now, Shaun. I'm glad things got fixed. Blessings xx

OH you poor thing! I hope you are feeling mentally and physically a bit better now. Sofa and biscuits for the rest of the day. Of course, I blame the washing up. I think you should be exempt from all washing up from now on. In fact, all forms of household chores and if anyone complains, point to the picc with a knowing look. (By the way, I would have totally freaked out too - I am glad you had big fella with you. I think I should get one of those, just in case!) xxx

what's a picc line??

It's a tube which is inserted into a major vein (either through the arm or the chest) to administer drugs. Often for chemotherapy. They can be a bit of a nightmare for bleeding and for infections but if you have poor veins then they're really effective.

I had the same but thankfully I as in hospital! But I think I must have somehow closed the clamp accidentally while my feed was running through it,at least I HOPE that’s what it was! The nurse didn’t bother to explain!! Just cleaned it up, so I,m praying it doesn’t happen again🙏These picc lines& Hickman lines are scary, I absolutely hate them👹
