You can sprinkle them on your porridge, I would say try a large teaspoon first and see how you go. I also use a rounded dessertspoonful, mix in with a 3rd of a mug of water and leave to soak for an hour then drink. This works for me. Some people grind the flaxseeds down and then soak them.
I saw a dietician yesterday who told me to sprinkle 1 tablespoon per day on cereal or yogurt for a week and increase to 2 tablespoons if they don`t seem to be helping - increase gradually to avoid over doing it. She recommended gound golden linseeds (linseeds are the same as flaxseeds)
Pleased that you saw a dietician and yes there are quite a few people that sprinkle them on to cereal, I just didn't know the amount and wouldn't have wanted to overdo it so glad the dietician has said how much you can have. I know that flaxseeds and linseeds are the same and I have the golden ones, typical though, I bought loads and haven't needed them for quite a while now. Think I will have to use them in cooking etc.

By the way - I see that Aldi now sell milled flaxseeds for a very good price (I discovered this after buying some elsewhere off the internet!)
