stomach bloating and pain
Hi Iynnett,
That doesn't really help you, does it.
This article just might help you move forward: sickofibs.com/well-being/mind/

"everything is fine" is doctor speak for "there's nothing majorly wrong. Your colon is not tied in a knot, your stomach is still in your body and you have not a knobbly wallpaper on your intestine walls".
Unfortunately they cannot help you with the subtle interactions in your digestive function because they are different for everybody and there are so many variables.
But hey, you can!
Firstly you can relax because it is now proven that you have no cancer and there are no bad parts in your colon (restrictions, collapses, elongated loops). Secondly you need a sensitive concert conductor who will consider this problem from a lot of angles and will finetune the many aspects.
Luckily you are a thinker and you are sensitive. And you give priority to this subject. Three top requirements for the job, you are the conductor/investigator!
Yes, use your sensitivity to your advantage. Right now it surfaces as worry and daily obsession over what you eat. But you can use it to your advantage by just thinking about a food or holding it in your hand and trying to listen whether your body would love this food in a good way or not. You can conduct trials with only little bits of these foods to find out of your body needs it or not. You don't need a plateful, you are sensitive enough that a little bit will give you results. Trust your instincts.
You know that depression and guts are linked. Because the gut produces GABA and Serotonine and the depressive brain can override this. You can work it the other way around: take GABA and 5-htp supplements to make your belly happier and your brain will surely follow. Science says the supplements cannot cross the blood brain barrier. Let's see if your experience is the same as mine: supplements may not cross but now that the gut has enough of GABA and Serotonin it seems my brain has some of its own to spare. I think happier.
I'm teaching myself to burp. I can't believe it but I swallow a lot of air. I'm pressing on bulges in my stomach and I turn and roll around until something exits.
(air rises, I figure, so I'm pointing one of the two gas exits to the sky. That's right, I either press on my stomach while lie on my back, then turn on my belly and do "a sea lion". Burp. Or I press on my colon while on my right, than turn on my back, press some more and lift my pelvis to the sky. Fart. Quite embarrassing but my husband calls it the sounds of victory)
Read up on colonic motility. It's interesting! When you're stressed motility stops. When your happy (= serotonin) it quickens. This is why Anti-deppressiva often have the loose stools as sideeffect.
Low gas producing foods: FODMAP
Bloating is often to do with low stomach acid. Take lime juice or vinegar with your food. Any time you're nauseous suspect low stomach acid.
Good luck, you've got this
