Hi all. I never posted on here before. Is it just me? Or does anyone else suffer with chronic back pain on a flare up. I look 8 months gone increasing painful stomach and horrendous back pain. Has been to the extent of vomiting.
I don't usually get constant symptoms. I decided to change my diet. So went vegan for 2 weeks. Probably not long enough but helped a little. I was struggling with dairy so I re introduced dairy. Got a few more flare ups but nothing amazing. Introduced meat nothing much different.
Been to the doctors and they have put me on sertraline. This flare up has lasted 7 days now. And I'm near my tether as it has me crippled.
Any advice??
Thanks guys x

Hi, I've never experienced back pain with a flare up. I think you should speak to your GP and find out if there is anything else that's underlying. Ask them to investigate the pain via scans or x-rays if the medication is not helping x
Iv researched quite a bit on ibs and quite a few people report back pain as a symptom of a flare. Currently been put on sertraline 50mg and it can help reduce stress and apparently change the way body feels pain. Have another appointment on the 11th so hopefully should have some good news.
I will push for an investigation if I don't feel better soon
I'm currently going through an attack. The back pain gets me crippled. I have a 3 year old and I'm on my own so can make life so difficult. I'm glad things are settling down for u. Thankyou for responding. It's nice to talk to someone who understands. No one in my family suffer
Likewise, reading other stories really comforted me when I was at breaking point. Nobody in my family suffers so they can't understand. I really do hope the medication eases your pain x
Hi Sammy, i have also been suffering with back pain, mine is more near the right shoulder blade, my GP referred me for an ultra sound to check for gallstones, and scanned my stomach and Pancreas - all negative but mine also comes and goes ive come to the conclusion that its stress related. Not sure if you are stressed at present but it maybe worthwhile having this scan done, if you have been vomiting for no reason (Bug etc) then i would certainly go back to the GP and mention the back pain and vomiting these are sometimes a sign of Gallstones.
I hope this helps and YES IBS sucks BUT i really think its down to the pressure we all live with in todays MAD world.
Hiya my back pain is always lower back. Vomitting is neither here nor there. Iv recently been doctors and he doesn't seem to concerned but he also put it down to stress. I suffer from anxiety and depression along with aggro phobia and gad. So mentally I'm pretty messed up lol.
It's been an 8 day flare the longest I've ever had so far. I know what you mean iv never suffered with this before about a year ago. So still getting used to random flares.
Thankyou for your help though hope all is well for u
I have had lower back pain quite a bit in the past when I have been bad with IBS D. Was diagnosed with excess bile in the colon and given questran which was marvellous at first but I began to get stomach pain with it so had to stop. I do use the fodmap diet and recently started having kefir each day which seems to help a lot.
