Hi my name is terry and i have had ibs since 1989 or there abouts. I have pretty bad bouts in those days and then it eased off a little. I learnt to live with the symptoms of ibs over the years and recently notice that it was getting worse again. I have been to see a gastroenterologist and been on wheat free diets, dairy free diet and nothing changed. I have had a scan, a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with having an extremely sensitive colon and i have now been discharged. Now i have got to learn how to live wth the symptoms of ibs.

Hi there Terry, I've had IBS since 1996/97 and like you was not good in the beginning but then was better for quite a few years. I got better after reading an article about Multi Bionta Multivitamins; it was about a gentleman who had IBS and these had made him much better. I have been taking them since reading the article and continue to do so as I'm almost certain they help but more so for the immune system as my IBS C has increasingly got worse over the past year or so.

I have cut out some foods and have to say for me this has made a little difference in that I know for sure I cannot eat raw carrots, raw onions or sweetcorn; I can eat some broccoli but not as much as I used to. I had another Colonoscopy last year and nothing was found. I am also cutting out the lactose and sure that is making a difference with me.

I don't like the way really in which you have been discharged with no support from a dietician or the like, think I would go back and ask if there is anything else that can be done.

On another note I don't know whether you have seen updates from Alison Simpson on here of alisonsickofibs, she writes a blog every week and it's very good. She certainly seems to be much better and no longer living with IBS symptoms. Here blog is sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/... - it's certainly worth having a look.

I hope you found some relief soon as it's awful living with this.

Hi there, I was wandering around in your shoes as well, although not for as long time as you did, searching for a solution to stop the symptoms too... i speak out of experience, had IBS (diagnosed by "reductio ad absurdum" only after all my tests, and they were many, were all negative) over a 5 years period (think it was triggered, maintained and accentuated by overwhelming stress, poor diet and lack of exercise) by the end of which period i literally thought I will die. I healed myself last year, in a short period of 3 months, by avoiding any type of medication (not even an aspirin), avoiding any type of medical doctor, changing my diet to a raw organic vegetarian one and exercising everyday for at least 30 minutes. YOUR BODY IS SMART, IT WILL HEAL ITSELF, YOU JUST HAVE TO LET IT WORK AND DO NOT INTERFERE STUPIDLY!!! Since then I feel much stronger, have an outstanding physical and psychological stamina, my digestion got back to normal (after horrifying diarrhea bouts) and life is wonderful again! No more IBS - by eradicating the root causes of it, and not trying to repress the symptoms... This guy helped me a lot, with his short explanations, he made me change my lifestyle and although I do not personally know him, I am very thankful I got over him on Youtube accidentally... life changing experience if you suffer from a dis-ease and do not know the REAL causes... hope it helps you too: youtu.be/MYKdLeL3SGo
