Help?
Have you been to the doctors and spoken about it to your GP? I went and they said about keeping a food diary to understand what may have triggered different movements etc. It helps to understand that breads and pasta and if I have a lot of meat it really bunges me up - I eat a lot of veg and am active so I was also confused. I actually cut down on coffee and switched to peppermint tea and that helps sometimes. I'm in the process of figuring it out, not sure if it helps or if you have tried keeping a food diary to work it out. It might also be stress related - there's a correlation with work stress and bowels troubles with me.
I actually drink a lot of peppermint tea but then switched to coffee as I thought it was better. I'll switch back and see what happens. I haven't spoken to my GP yet but i'm seeing him tomorrow so I could mention it.
It's so hard to find the right balance of fibre. Too much fibre makes it worse for me. But my 'go to ' food is prunes. I take them nearly every day. Dr just give laxatives and dietitians tell you what you already know ( that's my experience). I've tried Fodmap diet, it might work for you.
Let us know what your gp says, I thought maybe you are eating to much fibre, but maybe it could be a number if things.
Nice to meet you lucy.
There are 2 types of fibre, soluble and insoluble. I only have soluble fibre and golden linseed
Both of which have made a big difference to my bowel movements, I don't have your problem any longer, give them a go
Hi in cases when I experience this kind of thing or my usual ibs flare up I go back to a kind of basic diet plan I created my self where I totally cut gluten, caffeine and red meat out and replace it with a more basic fruit, veg and fish kind of diet and usually after a week or do things go back to normal. Hope this might help
Not having to go to the toilet very often is OK if it's normal for you and you can pass stool without straining. Search 'Bristol Stool Chart' online. If your poo is type 2 or 3 you haven't anything to worry about.
