WAKING UP BLOATED?!

Hello,

I eat 3-4 hours before I sleep and sometimes sleep on an empty stomach in attempt to not feel bloated in the mornings yet I STILL HAVE A VERY DISTENDED, BLOATED AND PAINFUL STOMACH.

whyyyyyyyyyy

does anyone else experience this or have any solutions?

And i have IBS-C so a build up of waste seems like the only problem.

That bloated feeling I know is awful. Yes it could be that you are heavily constipated. Maybe you should speak to your dr or try movical and prunes over the next couple of days to see if it gets things 'moving'.

I agree with taking movicol. Gently massaging your abdomen from lower right side up and under ribs then down the left side helps.

Thanks Annie I will try itx

There are several things that could be causing this. I used to bloat up 2 dress sizes every morning. I don't anymore.

Bad digestion: It's good that you are eating early, but you may be spending more time trying to digest it. So take a close look at what you are eating. Make it easy to digest and nutritious. if you are not sure what food triggers you have, have a look at sickofibs.com/ibs-triggers/...

Stress: You could find that stress is a trigger. in which case relaxation techniques in the evening could really help.

For constipation: Magnesium is a great help.sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...

Hope some of this helps,

Alison

Hi. I'm on the fodmap diet and I'm reintroducing food groups at the moment. For me a trigger food is lactose. It bloats me, bad painful stomach and wind.

I've reintroduced it twice over two three day periods and get the same reaction.

Maybe think about the food groups you are eating.

Yes I get this too but sometimes, usually I should wake up with a flat tummy but it depends what I've ate the day before (I think my IBS is most definitely diet related). I haven't started on the FODMAP diet yet so can't be for certain what triggers it - if you're the same maybe keep a food diary to see when you have a prolonged bloat?
