What exactly does that mean? Had to send off for tests last week and the results came back this morning but the Doc says they are borderline. Borderline what?!?!?!
Have to do them again in 2 weeks time but in the meantime I have to carry on thinking nothings wrong with that sort of answer.

Did you ask him to explain what 'borderline' meant? Sorry if I'm stating the obvious! What did he do a stool test for and what problems are you having?
The best part was I didn't get to speak to the doctor just the receptionist! He had put in the notes it was to test for protein in the stool. Does that make sense?
I don't agree with receptionists passing on information like that. It's just not acceptable. Sorry I don't what protein in the stool means. It certainly doesn't sound serious though so I wouldn't worry. What problems are you having?
Everything IBS d related, lose stools in the morning, gurgley stomach and wind. I do only go once a day though so certainly not as bad as others.
The worst part is I do generally feel fine in myself.
I had blood tests which came back clear expect for low thyroid. He then said to test stools and I get 'borderline' as the answer to them! It's just wanting to know what the he'll I'm borderline for 😡
Let us know when you get the results! As for the thyroid. My daughter has trouble with her thyroid and had a lot of problems with IBS d. She now has medication for this and is now fine. Get your thyroid sorted!!
I've just gone to have my second blood test in the hope that this does resolve something with my thyroid. I've read numerous times now that thyroid and IBS can be linked.
I'd love to know more about your daughters symptoms though.
Hi there. She had weight gain, went from very slim to quite chubby, itchy eyes and skin and IBS problems. Maybe more but I can't remember now. All of this cleared up when they put her on thyroxine and got her dose right!
Well whether it be IBS or thyroid related I've lost a little bit of weight. But I get cold hands and feet even on lovely warm days. Its this IBS that is frustrating me. Fingers crossed the thyroid thing sorts me out!!!
Yes I've had thyroid problems and I'm skinny so it doesn't always follow that you will gain weight. My daughter did, but not everyone does. Have at look at the thyroid forum on here. It's very helpful and has lots of people on there with specific knowledge on the subject. I agree IBS can be frustrating and I don't know about you but sometimes I get fed up of can I eat this can I eat that without incurring problems!! Drives me mad!!!!
I have low thyroid & IBS. I'm not sure if there's a direct link as the IBS is practically life long whereas the hypo thyroid is more recent. But since the thyroid effects every single organ in the body any weakness is highlighted. For instance I was plagued with UTI's for decades - they stopped when the thyroid problems were sorted. Well, as sorted as possible when it's a substitute instead of the real hormone.
Getting the dose correct is crucial. Depends on your doctor whether he's on board with this.
Some doctor's will say borderline low thyroid and not treat it.This is not really acceptable as that can make a big difference to the quality of life.
Hope it all gets sorted and and your symptoms are resolved soon.
Completely agree with you Amabile. My Doc said my thyroid was borderline and wouldn't treat it. I have just had bloods done this am and I will insist he treat it if they are low again as like you say it's unacceptable. I am fed up with feeling rough!
I completely agree. I get my results this coming Tuesday so I am hoping something will show up. I have had blood done for low B12 as well as nearly all my symptoms fit. Especially as I have had digestive issues for so long.
Mainly stomach cramps, looseness and bowel frequency. I had a bad bout around Christmas, lasting several weeks. I think it was caused by eating something which contained a large amount of onions - one of my nemises. Mebeverine helped a lot. I've been quite well for a few months now. Still get a bit tired though but struggle on as we do.
