IBS-D ondansetron

Has anyone else been prescribed this for diarhhoea predominant ibs? I just wondered what general thoughts were x

Thought this was an anti sickness medicine not anti diarrhoea

It is an anti sickness drug. But the gastroenterologist says it slows the digestive system and so slows down bowel transit time helping people who have ibs-d. I did question it as the one thing i dont suffer from is nausea and wanted to know why in earth he would give me this!xx

I tried this, sorry to say it had zero effect on me, and I was nauseated as well as having diarrhoea. But for some it is the holy grail. When I was nursing this was prescribed for in patients most of which swore by it. What have you got to lose ?

I have it for anti-nausea while on chemo - it certainly slows the digestive tract! I have to take something along side it to sort the constipation out which is how my IBS presents!
