Buscopan for IBS.

Under a lot of stress, which has been chronic for quite some time now. Trying to avoid it as much as possible, but it is making my IBS symptoms worse, with worsening discomfort in my stomach.

Just been reading about buscopan online and it says you ought not to be taking these on a regular basis, which I have for some time now.

Could someone tell me the likely effects if they ARE taken for long periods? I take four of these tablets a day, 10mg, but feel I need to take more to ease the discomfort. Is this wise? Should I speak to my GP about them?

Are there any natural remedies I can take that might ease these symptoms? Would exercise, some exertion really help?

I was prescribed buscopan off the doctor was taking them before food and I don't think they made any difference to me.

I am going to speak to my GP about them, to see if they are worth still taking. I'd rather not be taking tablets that aren't doing me any good and try some changes to diet or natural remedies..

I suffer with colitis and I find stress and certain foods cause mine to flair up, have you tried keeping a food dairy to find out what you have been eating when you have a flair up. Corn and wheat cause me problems

Stress is definitely the major factor here for me. It might just be a factor too, certain food that I eat. I have bought various books on eating recipes that won't upset your stomach so hopefully this might help too. And was reading today about wheat etc being a possible factor, so looking at more gluten free food to eat.. so pause for thought..

If you're looking for a diet it has to be the low FODMAP diet. Unless you cut out certain types of food, you could still be under the impression that you are being careful, but could still be eating absolutely the wrong foods. Go onto the Monash University website for more info, and good luck. It really works, for most people.

Low FODMAP diet? Worth investigating. Didn't realise their were so many different diets to be had... so thanks for this one and I shall go check it now..

Give up all wheat and grain. I'm on paleo diet and have no problems with bloating or pain. I avoid wheat like the plague but every now and then have something with rice flour in it and I suffer. I'm not strict on sugar though!

Yeah. That seems to be a common suggestion to give up wheat and grain. Just downloaded a paler diet book so will give that a go to see if it helps curb the discomfort in my stomach? Rice flour? Okay. I'll check that out too... Thanks for that...
