Advice please. Was diagnosed with IBS 14 years ago. Last six months have numerous health problems pneononia and anxiety. The meds given for this upset my stomach and aggravated my IBS. Went ti Drs and have been given buscopan and colpermin which did no good but been on mebrevine for a month but still get wind and pain. Motions are sometime s loose but not d. Dr has now decided to send me for a colonoscopy. I'm terrified of having one with the prep and with my anxiety wouldn't cope. Have read about colongraphy which is less invasive has anybody had this done. Also haven't had any more tests for ibs recently like stool tests. Did have a cancer screening test last year which was clear.I'm so anxious already without the worry and fear of colonscopy on the tip.

Hi Pam, I had a Colonoscopy and Endoscopy before actually being diagnosed with IBS. Now to put your mind at ease, the Colonoscopy was certainly not invasive; I had no problems with taking the chalky solution and my stomach didn't react badly at all. Please do not worry as this is a very straightforward procedure.

The very best of luck.

Was the chalky solution for your endoscopy. The colonoscopy they give you laxatives to empty bowels how did you find that. Thank you for replying.

Hi Pam, sorry for the delay in replying - it's a manic time for me at the moment in work. I had the chalky solution for the Colonoscopy and well as laxatives and I had no problem whatsoever with it. Hope it goes well for you.

:)
