I think it's fairly common to get diarrhoea during your period. The change in hormones can definitely effect the bowel.

Hi there, I had lots of IBS problems with my period, it got so unbearable I mentioned to the Doctor, and she said, oh yes that's very common.  She changed my contraception so that I now don't have a period at all, and it's made my IBS so much better at all times.  Apparently contraception can cause issues, which in 20 yrs of suffering I'd never heard about.  Not sure if that will help you but no doctor ever suggested that to me before and this has changed everything for me.

Hi there!Yes I also have discovered that it is very severe on my period.i have also had hideous cramps that are unbearable & made me think my insides had collapsed..my doctor had to give me special painkillers to take on my period which seem to help a bit more now & my hot water bottle is my best friend on time of month.i also lose my appetite a bit but have to eat to take the tablets.

I have issues during ovulation too. Cramps and pain are getting worse with age mid-cycle. I'm 45 now and 10-14 days in is a nightmare now. D is bad bad bad on these days.
