I only started keeping it again as encounter some trouble, and wanted to iron things out. I do find it helpful. Anyone else...?

I kept one when trying to figure out my symptoms and it was VERY useful. Now that I've figured out most of my triggers I just keep a list of flare-ups and symptoms that don't seem food related. I was using an inexpensive ap on the phone, I found it much easier to fill out throughout the day.
Good idea to keep a diary non food related. Is that working out for you?
It hasn't helped identify triggers beyond stress, but it's helped identify patterns. Most of my IBS issues were resolved with the food diary, FODMAPS, and a little further elimination. But my flare-ups show up every 4-6 weeks and symptoms I thought were unrelated seem to reoccur with the bad guts (episcleritis, joint pain, occasional headaches). Otherwise your memory slips and maybe you only remember the gut issues and not these seemingly related problems. Good for talking to the docs.
hi
good idea
i find crisps can trigger my Ibs. probably flavourings. when you say beans do you mean baked or green.both give me bloating/ibs. obviously we are all different. im wary of breadcrumbs too as there is something in them that triggers my ibs.
i find d gluten free pasta better for me than usual pasta. i avoid ready made meals as they are full of junk. sugars , to much salt, mono whatevers, preservatives etc.
iv been a lot better since i stopped eating wheat in bread or biscuits.
hope something here helps. having a good week after bad Sunday. no Ibs since.
Regards

Hello, yeah the diary has helped loads. Beans, as in runner and green beans. Bread I can only tolerate sour dough, which I make myself. Sweet snacks, like cakes and biscuits, I also make myself. I have found making things myself treats etc works better, I get to have a treat and keep ibs low.
I found crisps too, but have been experimenting and found a few low flavour crisps I can tolerate, but only have a few not even a whole packet. But yeah there are some that are not great.
I am a big snacker and like to eat lots of little bits.
Try some sour dough, I think it actually helps bind me up, which is good if you a ibs d. Onions and leeks I can't have, tomatoes am fine with in smaller amounts. And we eat a lot of fish here.
What else triggers you? Or you have found is good?
Hi
nuts sultanas prawns mushrooms all trigger ibs. cold pasta not good either. i can tolerate walnuts and peanut smooth butter in modest quantities. love all these foods but only try when im on holiday so i can cope with ibs. gassy drinks a no no, wine seems ok and raisins in moderation. think iv got less tolerant as years go by.
seem now to get either D which i take imodium instants for and lots of water or awful groin spasm or in hip which i try to get rid of with buscopan , heatpads, paractml ,last resort codeine if keeping me awake at night. sometimes ginger wine helps with spasm.
walking helps sometimes other times makes it worse.
think yoga/pilates can help if you feel well enough to do beforehand.
forgot only 1 or 2 tea a day now. decaf ok. very little coffee ok and no artifical sweetners often found in bought cakes, biscuits, sweets.
suffered over 20 yrs now so probably best i get is a week free of ibs.
probably average twice a week and either D Or Bad Pains or both.
always better on holiday- more active , less stress ,more wine!
hope something here helps you
