Hi all

Like many of you I am also an ibs sufferer. .i also have an anxiety disorder that make things worse. I have ha the flu for the past week. Although my flu symptoms are going away I haven't been able to eat, lost a lot of blood from my.period and feel extremely tired, dizzy, shaky and sweaty whenever I try to get up. Any thoughts?

Hi Tulip. Not surprised you feel weak, dizzy etc, you have ibs, anxiety and FLU, the flu alone would make you feel like this. Your anxiety is probably elevated due to feeling so poorly. Im no expert but i think you need to allow more time to shake off the effects of the flu. Be good to yourself and rest, drink plenty of fluids and let your body heal. As for the food scaring you, we all have problems at times with food, its an IBS 'thing', being unwell on top of that does not help! Try and eat small meals if you can, i feel you might be scared to get any sicker, but you need to build your energy now, so do try a little. Hoping you feel much better very soon. Nanabud xx

Thank you nanabud. That is really comforting. I feel like I could have already recovered if my anxiety didn't get the best of me and my stomach. It leaves me with so much what if thinking or like I will never be a a eat again. Scary

Hi Tulip. Sorry to here you have been unwell. What I always find helps is drinking a gluten free protien shake with lacto free milk. "Simply protien" from Holland and Barratt is a good one. At least you will be getting some goodness. Get well soon. Natasha x

I'm so sorry, Tulip...you've been through a LOT.... and your symptoms are not too much of a surprise for all that you have been through... I think it will help for you to drink plenty of fluids especially...broths, soups, light meals, and the protein drinks are a good idea like Natasha said... just don't try to overdo, take it easy on yourself, and pretty soon you will feel all up to par again! :) Yay!! Take care!

Being run down after a flu is a common thing ,can take a while to correct energy levels. Good luck
