I have had ibs some 5 years all day every day, some days better than others. I wake at approx 6.a.m and then use the toilet constantly through the day. When I go I only pass small amounts of poo, and find it painful. I also have piles which doesn't, help matters. Can anyone help me ?

Have you ever had a proctogram to see what your bowel does when it's in action?

I used to be exactly the same as you describe and it wasn't until I had this done late last year that I found out what the problem was.

Hi Rosie Thanks for that, yes I have had a proctogram about two years ago, in fact I have had everything done that can be done. The result was I just have to put up with it, but it does interfere with my quality of life. I just feel if I could get some sort of relief I would feel better. I do think that sometimes I need to try and accept it, and get on with my life.

So was nothing seen on your proctogram that might explain things, i.e. rectocele and/or intussusception?

Hi I was the same as you.If I don't go for 2days I take Laxido one a day until l feel I want to go.Very often I still can't move the poo.So what I do is use a glycerine suppository and that seems to remove all.I do take a probiotic7 as well.

Give it a go and see how you go.Idont take real laxatives any more as they really up set my system.

Everyone is different and that works for me.

Let me know how you get on.

Good luck xx

When I was in hospital n couldn't push to go to the loo because of my abdominal surgery, the nurses gave me lactulose which softens the poo n helps lubricate it so it passes along the bowel easier

Dont know if u can get otc or presc.only

Worth looking into . Good luck.

Thanks for your reply I have tried lactulose in fact I have tried just about everything and cant seem to shift it, only in small amounts, but I will keep on trying and will try absolutely anything.
