Hi

Anything that's fizzy doesn't help my ibs as do the sweetener I can't have either,so it's plain water for me

Thanks

Honest opinion anything that comes out of a bottle or can to drink that's not water or coconut water(pure no crap in it check labels) Should stay where you found/saw it on the shelf as almost all full of sugar or junk things hidden to!(read up on labeling)plus artificial sweeteners which esp if diabetic is really bad as so toxic to your pancreas.

Used to say about Aspartame but now also Saccharin(read/watch world according to diet coke)and world according to Monsanto opens your eyes on food stuffs.

As been said empty calories but fizzy drinks are not good for us at all ok odd one as used to like some lemonade but now when check AS in it and that's not diet one either! but as they say if diabetic steer clear of diabetic foods! great one?

but cokes inc dr pepper are so toxic to your stomach dr p is around the worst when you drink the body is attacked by unnatural acid in system so panic stations(like dealing with a fire)body takes Calcium(vitD) from bones to neutralise it so your then low on it but the fizzy/co2 blocks up take from foods to replace and artificial sweeteners stop the body metabolising VitD from sources so your VitD deficient and if VitD deficient your Cholesterol levels increase as all interlinked!

As for me the only things drink now are Tea(no sugar) water and coconut water the odd fruit juice but find most things now too sweet for me but i also don't have salt on anything as plenty in most things anyway do like things like spices/black pepper though.

so as you read it's not just the sweeteners but also the product that's bad and can imagine what the kids around today are going to be like in a few years after eating and drinking so much crap? Rickets all round!

Fizzy drink is really a no no when suffering with IBS. It causes people that don't suffer with IBS to release wind and to also suffer with trapped wind so you can imagine what it does to someone that has been diagnosed with IBS.

I do sometimes drink Diet Coke and that's only when I go out - I don't particularly like alcohol. Unfortunately there isn't much choice out there when you don't drink alcohol.

culd try alchol free beer/wine or fruit juices. i get frustrated but a glass of wine/ginger wine usually helps my ibs.at least it makes me more cheerful!

Thank Graham and I would have thought that Ginger Wine was actually quite good for you. :)

Might I suggest that if you bored of water, you opt for herbal tea instead (hot or iced). Peppermint is really good for soothing IBS and I recommend for the very sweet and rather tasty Teapigs Liquorice and Peppermint. But any peppermint herbal tea is good :)

Ooh, Teapigs Liquorice and Peppermint sound lovely, I will certainly give them a try. I know there are a lot of people that drink Coconut Water but unfortunately I can't stand it.

Anykind of a 'false sweetner' is NOT good for you.... Especially aspartame... or any other kind of 'non healthy' sugar substitutes... If you don't want to switch to a fruit drink, etc... you would honestly be better off drinking a half of a regular coke... not saying its 'healthy' but a heck of a lot SAFER than artificial sweeteners of any kind.
