Update on me.

Hi all.

I have been out of touch for a bit. Very busy with Council work.

I have had very good days and extremely bad days.

I am on the FODMAP diet, but have not been able to keep to the strict regime as buying food is so expensive.

I have worked out just what suits me though. I am on Lactose Free Milk. NO Gluten.

NO wheat. I can however eat tinned rice pudding and tinned macaroni puddings so not completely against milk products. Strange.

I don't eat a lot of rubbish that I used to eat. No Pies,Pastry, puddings other that the ones I know I can eat.

My husband now cooks our meals separately.

I have bought lots of Vegetarian stuff, Biscuits, mostly, but I am bored with them.

I am now going to try making my own stuff. I have looked at various sites on the Internet, and will experiment with them.

I need to buy some kitchen equipment just for me though. More expense. My shopping experiences now consist of looking for heathy food options.

I am scared stiff of not

being able to afford all this once I don't have money enough to,pay for it.

We have in this country an OBESITY explosion, people get treatment on our beleaguered NHS, and get free prescriptions for gluten free products for CEOLIAC , but nothing for the thousands that have got our horrid illness.

I can see a campaign coming on.

I am still waiting for my MRI scan results . I had this done on June 25th, and it is taking ages to get the result.

Hi Pat,

In many ways, we are now doing the same thing... we are conducting our OWN experiments when it comes to what we 'should' or 'should not' eat. I do believe this can be successful.

I am not good at 'follow this strict diet or you will pay dearly for it'... I am TIRED of those threats. I KNOW in my gut, heart, and mind when I am doing something RIGHT and when I SHOULD NOT be eating certain things... I know when I am trying to ignore 'cheating' and try to cover it up by saying 'oh just this bite won't hurt me'...

I was SO sick last wknd...more so than I have EVER been connected with IBS... and I know exactly what I 'did wrong'...

I need to be self=disciplined when it comes to keeping a food diary...but I am starting to do that. Anyway, I know I am better off with either no grains... and gluten free stuff is a joke to me... might as well eat the cheapest white bread on the shelf... Sometimes I can eat rice... sometimes oatmeal. Anyway... We have to be our own laboratories! :) But with me, I know the main key is to be HONEST with myself. Good luck to you, Pat.
