ibs and antibiotics

I was diagnosed with ibs last year it has taken me over 8 months to get a handle on it, I now have an ear and upper respitory infection , iam on antibiotics and my ibs is flaring up, its so frustrating! are there any antibiotics that do not flare up ibs? I am allergic to penicillin .

They all mess with your gut flora no matter which ones you take. I take Symprove probiotic if I have antibiotics. I have rosacea and am currently on Tetralysal 300 for 3 months. It works great for my face - but the IBS goes downhill all the while I am on it.

It's a toss up between the condition and the antibiotic side effects.

my dr has never brought that up I take alighn and it does not help

Hi I suffer chronic IBS,and I also have ephesema ,my GP did prescribe a anti biotic for me,when I've had chest infections,that did not affect my Tum,but I can't remember the name.

But ask your GP because I know it can be done.

I have and I am missing a lot of work due to this which in turn causes anxiety.

Hi,Sorry it's took me so long to reply. I can totally understand where your coming from with IBS and antibiotics.

That's why I know you can get some that don't affect your Tum.

If your GP tells you no there are none ask your Pharmasist he'll tell you the name of some. But don't be put off. Take care
