I have IBS and friends have advised me that green vegetables can make my symptoms worse. As I am trying to lose weight it is difficult to advise them Any suggestions?

Yes they can. Take a look at the low FODMAP vegetables list and you will see that things like Brussels sprouts, cabbage and brocolli are dodgy!
Hi Lola, Green vegetables can affect IBS but that's not everyone and everything,so it's best to work out what works for you. I myself have chronic IBS, and I find tomatoes affect me but only if I have them two days on the run, that goes for most fruit and Veg if I just have little I can get away with it. When it comes to IBS it depends what's wrong which is why it's called a syndrome,we all suffer with it differently (example it can be food, stress,or just a diffunctional bowel.) which is what makes us all unique. So really it's up to you to work out what works for you. Take care
