I made a post about 4 months ago whether I have IBS or IBD and I got a lot of nice replies. These last couple of months have been a bit of a nightmare for me. I've been deprived of sleep, I've been starting to get the occasional flare up in my right eye and gums, I've started to notice my medication has stopped being effective, when I took the medication last year it worked! I just do not know what to do anymore. I've recently put myself back on to Buscopan and that did not make any difference. I suffer with Esophagitis, Gastritis, and I've had duodenitis and peptic ulcers in the past.. I've had a lot of mucus mixed with dark blood and my stools can be rather patchy.. I'm taking at the moment solpadol effervescent tablets, Amitriplyine and esomeprazole and peptac liquid. I'm 24 and I'm a male. This problem gets me down and it really effects my studies. I also have this problem when I'm out, and I'm feeling normal (health wise) my Gastro problems can turn nasty by a click of a finger without warning and have no absolute trigger. That means, I have to go home and that's my day finished.

Hello, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. I can completely sympathise with ibs as I have it pretty bad and I know how it can affect you. Are you saying there is sometimes blood in your stools? Sorry it just isn't very clear. If so, blood in stools is not a symptom of irritable bowel syndrome, it is with IBD though. I would book an appointment to see your doctor as soon as possible.
blood in stools needs investigation by gp - but if after this you still have problems then I wonder if a whole colon detox would help - Jensen's book Guide to Better Bowel Health is an eye opener and explains how to do this yourself or there are centres in UK you can go, or else detox on green juice following Hippocrates Institute type programme - again you can do it yourself or go to centres for a week to do this - when I start feeling really rubbish this is what I do - I then try to stick to raw food for as long as possible - on this I'm o.k. but if I get off track then feel rubbish again and need to do the detox again
Don't give up that's my opinion-keep trying medications there may be an answer out there for you. If you give up you will miss out on the good days that do happen every now and then. Being a woman I have a handbag that can keep all medicines I may need when I am out it may sound like I am a hypochondriac but at least I am able to get out and meet friends. Wish you well
