Ibs seems to latch itself on to most things is my experience.I guess it's a weakness in us and so it doesn't seem to need much to "set off the trip switch " unfortunately.hope you soon are feeling better.

Thank you. For the first time I went to the chemist and bought peppermint capsules - I've only taken one so far but it seems to be working - whether that's the placebo effect or not who knows? Thanks for your reply.

If the viral infection is worrying i.e. you're off work, you have children, it can cause tension and start IBS. As you say, placebo effect or not, it has helped you and that's all that matters. Just take them and be well.

yes it can do as recently I had a cold and had an episode and an accident as well at home but now I can laugh about it as accidents are unfortunate but they aren't the end of the world as everything can easily be washed and you clean yourself up carry on with the day and laugh about it afterwards as the worst thing you can do is let them upset you and stop you doing things.
