IBS research

Hi, I have recently joined the network but have been suffering from IBS since childhood. I am currently studying a Masters in Health Psychology at Liverpool John Moore's and I am doing my research project on the negative effects of IBS.

Would anybody object to me advertising my project on here? I would appreciate as much help as I can get :)

Thanks

I for one will give you every support. The life draining effects of IBS are difficult to understand and even more difficult to communicate to others including GP's.

I’d love to help. I have had severe faecal incontinence for more than four decades. I never know the minute. I can go weeks with no trouble at all and then, without warning, a volcanic eruption can occur and I end up covered in «lava ». I have come to the conclusion that what I eat is of no consequence. The problem in my case has to be defective peristalsis.

The only way I can be sure of no attacks is by fasting. This causes great psychological stress but is the only solution for me. I’m on permanent Ramadan. I only eat after eleven at night.

I perform an enema in the morning if I’m leaving the house. If I’m staying in I wait until I void naturally.

Notwithstanding all this l try to be in good spirits. My best wishes to all sufferers.
