Water melon

I have said elsewhere on here that melons go through me in a matter of an hour or so.

However my daughter was telling me that she tried water melon with no bad effect and so I tried a small amount then a normal portion the day after. No bad effect at all.

Just for information.

That's really surprising as the low FODMAP diet gives all melon EXCEPT water melon (high in polyols and fructose) as being safe options! Just goes to show it's horses for courses.

Just so, horses for courses. My daughter was telling me that fruit with fructose in was no good for her, she is trying fruits with a stone since this is supposed to be lower.

I stopped apples a while back but not really noticed an improvement long term.

Once again, on FODMAPs, stone-containing fruits are out as they are all high in polyols. Apples and pears are also on the no-no list. Safest fruits for me are strawberries, raspberries and kiwi fruit.

I can tolerate apples if peeled & chopped then cooked in the microwave for a minute. I have always found melons very laxative as are kiwi, strawberries, mango, pears & cherries, so we are all different.

Hi , I am with Paganmoon , I too can only have strawberries , rasps , kiwi ,and blueberries . Sadly stoned fruit is a no no apples and pears are now out of my diet as well . Could not understand why I felt hellish when I was eating pears doh !

I cannot touch raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, gooseberries or any other berries there may be. The only things I can eat at the moment are bananas, pineapple, avocado. Bought a lovely melon the other day, had one slice and within hours was confined to the house for the rest of that day and the next. Just shows how different we all are. Fodmap says grapes, kiwi, cherries, mandarin orange, lemon and lime are OK - I can't touch them.
