hi all I got diagnosed with IBS over 20 years ago and have had no problems other than constipation untill the last 3 weeks now I daren't go out incase I get that cramping stomach pain that means I need the toilet yesterday.
I feel so embarrassed.
doctors given me fybogel but it doesn't seem to be doing what it should be

Have you tried adjusting your diet? Can you pinpoint any foods that are making you worse?

Hi Kazzi, first thing is DO NOT be embarrassed. There are so many people with bowel problems, so you are not alone.
Second, you say your only problem so far has been constipation. Exactly how long do you wait for a bowel movement?
For a healthy body and mind you need to go daily. If not than your whole body will suffer due to toxins sitting in your intestines and eventually leeching into your body.
If the fybogel is not working than you must go back to yr Dr and ask for something else.
Look look up 'yoga exercises to ease constipation' on the web and do those.
Drink lots of water.
Fibogel is used for constipation, if u have the opposite maybe you need not to take it. You need to speak to GP, to rule out other causes apart from IBS, possibly infection or imbalance. Have you tried plain yoghurt, it is good for upset digestive system sometimes. Doc prescribed Mebeverine for me a few days ago, but I have only been dx last week so far from expert. Have read that insoluble fibre sometimes doesnt help everyone , oatmeal is better. as said no expert, but its awful when you need to go yesterday.
Have you thought about not eating any raw food and only a very small amount of cooked greens?
