Its only nine months since i finished treatment but im getting recurring chest infections. I was discharged from chest clinic with scaring on both lungs 4months ago. My gp says to contact clinic as i was told to if any problems but im terrified. My dad died earlier this year from copd and my mother sees similarities in me to how my dad was early on in his condition, i was hoping someone else might be like me. I dont have tb symptoms just infections treated with steroids and antibiotics every few weeks. Is there any connection between tb anc copd? Please any information will help

Has anyone had problems after recovering from antibiotic resistant tb?
I also experienced repeated chest infection in the first two years after finishing TB meds. I put it down to inflammation in the chest. I moved out of the city to the coast & away from my job working in a hospital and now six years after finishing treatment I still cough but have far less chest infections and generally am well. Just get tired.
Hi Alien41,
I am sorry to hear that you lost your Dad so recently whilst still recovering from TB. This must have been a very distressing time and I understand why you are concerned about TB and COPD.
It is common to suffer from chest infections even after TB treatment, as TB causes damage that can leave you more vulnerable to other bacteria and viruses. However, I do think you need to follow your GPs advice and speak to your TB clinic about this. It is very likely this is something that wil pass in time, as your body gets stronger, but it is always best to check.
With best wishes,
Helen
