My 6 year-old son got worst cough before we found out he has TB. after taking TB meds for 10 days the cough was gone, and he is doing physical activities in the afternoon and eating any food. after 1 month and 1 week of TB meds, he got cough again. He was brought to the doctor for check-up but doctor said he is fine as he doesn't have phlegm and fever. he was given additional cough medicine and throat spray. after 1 day of new added meds his cough was gone, now he is coughing again like he got itchy throat. is it really normal, will the cough be gone soon? he's annoyed why cough keeps coming back to him

Hi, sorry to hear your son has TB. Is he diagnosed with active or latent TB? And I’m assuming his chest x-ray was fine? I had latent tuberculosis and I was on 120 days of antibiotics (Rifampin) so I’m thinking if he hasn’t been on the prescribed treatment for very long, it might make sense that his cough could come back. But or course it’s best to check with his doctor. What medication is he on?

Thanks for your reply..hope you're feeling fine now. Probably he has latent as doctor said it's not contagious especially to us, adults and thanks God he didn't cough out blood. I am thinking his xray is fine as result states Primary Complex and pneumonitis. After 1 week of meds (refampicin & isoniacid before breakfast & pyrazinamide plus ethambutol after breakfast), he was not coughing at all and we are doing exercise every afternoon. Also we went to his doctor for follow up check on its 2nd week of meds and the doctor reduced dose of pyra, but increased other meds. Now after more than 30days he was coughing again like he has itchy throat, we went to his pedia again and said it is normal and gave additional meds. Been thinking why cough is coming back again as he is taking so many meds for cough already. Sad to hear him cough and he's complaining of it too..he keeps praying to take away his cough and to never have cough again. Feel pity because he is taking many medicines daily plus vitamins and now added cough meds, but i'm glad he didn't complain..he is so graceful and positive minded.
