Stomach pain during TB treatment

Hi, my mum is finding it hard on her stomach to take TB medications, she went to a&e in London , but they only updosed Omeprazole, do you have any advice on what to eat that can protect her stomach , ease the side effects, food to help at her âge and with other health problems this is really hard, I am far away from her, I can't help her....thank you

Also can the antibiotics be given intravenously?

Hi farnaz31 , scheduling the drugs after a proper meal is the best way to prevent the impact on the stomach lining as the antibiotics combination is quite strong. I personally took my drugs in the morning which meant a very heavy breakfast ( Banana, eggs, bread, yoghurt, fruit smoothie) all un-acidic of course before taking my medication. Porridge is also amazing if she cant stomach a large breakfast. Also if the dosage of B-complex can be increased with her antibiotic intake it will help reduce the side effects of the antibiotics. I am no doctor but these were ways that helped me from nausea and stomach burns. If the effects persist she should see a doctor to probably adjust the dosage of antibiotics.

Many thanks for your reply , I will tell her. She has à sensitive stomach, did you have other side effects?

Hair loss, brittle nails, joint paint and feet swelling, exhaustion were the main ones. Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, Biotin, B-complex and Collagen helped. But she should get an opinion for her GP before taking any additional supplements.
