Will tb medication can be trace?

My doctor saw a granuloma in my upper left lung. She gave me anti tb drugs and after 2months i'm going to have Chest xray again. I am going to have my medical to get a certificate for work purpose. Will the diagnostic test can trace my medication? I really need your help.

Sorry I'm not really fluent in english. I applied a job last august. Luckily I got the job but before they deploy us we need to undergo training for months. Next year july 2020 that will be the start of my job. And that time i'm already done with my 6months treatment. They required us to have our medical last september and everything was normal including my chest xray. I am fit to work. But last november I noticed that i'm producing a phlegm not much but there's something black particles in it that made me consult a doctor. The doctor told me it's just from pollutants. But after she saw the chest xray result there is a white circle on my upper left lung( apicolordotic view). And she also told me that i had a primary complex when i was a child. She said that it must be a tuberculosis. So she asked me if I'm willing to take medications. And after two months i will have another chest xray. My concern right now is my second medical examination and that is two months from now. Will the medication show up on my urine or blood test? Will they figure out that I'm taking anti tb drugs? Thank you in advance.

Dear Maggy1790,

I am sorry that you are concerned your potential employer may learn that you are being treated for TB. For most jobs, treatment for TB should not be an issue - even though people can be very afraid of TB.

If you have been on TB treatment for at least two weeks for TB in your lungs (the only form of TB that is infectious) then you would not pose any infection risk to anyone else.

If you are a medical professional or applying for a job overseas you may need to complete your TB treatment before you can work/travel. In this instance you would need to follow the rules of the employer or country that you wish to obtain a Visa for. TB does not exclude you from working though, you would just need to ask for a medical certificate to show that you were clear of TB.

Most TB patients are on a drug which colours the urine orange. That might make them wonder if you have TB or are on TB treatment. The orange colour doesn’t always last all day, but I guess you know how it works for you.

I don’t think they will test urine for TB drugs. They don’t usually test blood for TB drug levels.

There shouldn’t be an issue if you’ve completed your treatment before you start your job.
