Hi Smeethy,

I think I may have emailed your partner directly, so excuse the repetition if so. It is unfortunate to still feel so ill with no explanation, so far into TB treatment.

It is true that TB medication starts to work quite quickly, so many people feel their TB symptoms clear after a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the treatment itself can leave you feeling pretty ill, as can any longer lasting damage that the TB bacteria have caused before they were treated.

Have you had any further tests to see if the treatment is working? That would at least give you some indication as to the cause of your continued symptoms?

Best wishes,

Helen

Hmm, that's a funny one. I am surprised that he has been told that, as I have heard from plenty of people who still get chest pain even years after TB. Perhaps they mean that there is no evidence of long-term damage that could be causing him pain. Yes, hopefully others can help. Also, push your doctors for a clearer explanation.
