Hi spumaya - I think you can develope a hundred and one different changes affecting us all in different ways. But as long as you are getting better and you are healing then anything else is just an irritation! My skin went very dry and scaly and my hair fell out loads, however stressful it was, I was alive and that’s what you need to focus on. I wish you well and hope you’ll soon be feeling better x
Thank you Hottchoc .. yes I understand and I am thankful that I am alive more than anything but just wanted to know if there was something precautionary I could do to avoid this. Thank you .. hope you are done with your treatment and doing well
It’s a very scary thing, TB but my frustrations come from medics not knowing the symptoms. It’s difficult to get people to understand. Yes thank you I had TB last year but am left with damage to my lung I always try to stay positive and think it’s important we can all be there for each other, no how small that might be. Get well soon x
Did you get your skin colour back??
Morning- my skin was ok, I had no changes but I know people can. Check with your doctor that your liver is ok, if it is then you can’t do much about it I’m afraid. All the best to you
Hi, yes I did.. within few months of completing treatment I got back to original skin tone . All the best
Hi Soumya123,
Please can you talk this over with a medical professional as soon as possible. Though it sounds like it could be simply be a bizarre side effect, I am concerned you may be confusing jaundice with tanning - particularly if you already have dark skin. If you have any yellowing of the whites of your eyes then please contact a doctor urgently.
I hope I am just being alarmist, but it is always best to check.
Best wishes,
Helen

Hello Piyu.
I am facing similar kind of problem . Is your face turning red and sometimes reddish dark. If it is so. What have you doctor suggested you about this problem. I am also on TB medicine from 8 months. Is it worrisome or complexion will get back to normal ones the medicine course is complete? Please reply. Thank you.
Hi Soumya, Yes I also have experienced my skin tanning darker than usual - I have been on meds for 8 weeks now and keep getting asked if I have been away on holiday! I was just advised to wear high factor sunscreen and if I stayed out of the sun it wouldn't go as dark. Just remember you are getting well and any side effect will be worth it in the end, I promise! helen is right though - best to get checked for jaundice even though the skin pigment change IS a symptom. My TB team have never laughed at any question I have had - the only daft question is the one you don't ask! Bless you and good luck with your progress! xxx
Hello my daughter is in her 2months med of tb. She was diagnosed tb lymphadenitis and her skin gets darker. The doctor told us that its the side effect of the tb meds.
It not easy bt to manage this process aslong as u taking ur medication and recovering you gonna be owk you was tould about side effect so the is no solution for side effect stay at home and folow TB process u gonna be owk in just few months
Even i wanna to know.. Well i actually thought that i got my skin tanned due to sun or water... But now it seems like the reasons something else...
Well! Apparently, this is your body's reaction to these drugs. Do not frighten this is not a big problem, I think that the consequences on your health will not be reflected in any way. You should contact a dermatologist with this problem and I think he will quickly be able to prescribe treatment for you. In any case, if you don't have time for this, try taking the chemical peels course at(cliniccleo.com/aesthetic-tr.... This treatment stimulates the growth of new cells and the production of collagen, helping to bring out a fresher, clearer, and brighter complexion. I myself went through a similar procedure recently and was pleased with the result.
I soon found out that sunblock factor 50 is the only effective lotion that stops any sort of tanning or skin darkening out in the sun for my skin. I’m an very fair skinned and always use factor 50 sun tan lotion but 30 minutes out in the sun caused me to have extremely hot burn patches that still have not gone away nearly 4 months after. My TB clinic told me that this is unusual but it can make skin photosensitive. Switching to sun block instead of standard sun lotion all over had stopped any more instances from occurring. My burn patches have turned to nice patches of brown now, lol.
