breathing getting very bad, is it my asthma or something else?
I've had asthma since I was 4 years old, i'm now sixteen and my asthma is getting awful. About to years ago my asthma started getting bad, I was using my salbutamol inhaler a couple of times a day so they gave me a brown preventative to take twice in the morning and evening. Although I was given a preventative

Struggling to get diagnosed
Hi there. I am looking for some advice please. I have asthma - at least I think I have it I have never had a spirometer test. I have been on and off inhalers for years but this past two years I have had to use them daily. I am on serotide 250 and ventolin. I have had peak flows - lately they have

Hi. I've just been to the docs to replace my rescue meds I have and the doctor wouldn't give me any more predisolone. She's not my usual doctor and I showed her my peak flow diary of how low it is at the moment 150 and normal is 300. She was more concerned with my hayfever, nose blocked and said she

Querying asthma?
Hi I'm new here & currently not diagnosed as asthma but the doctor is giving me a trial of the blue inhaler for a couple of weeks as thinks I do have it. I feel a bit 'left' at the moment & am thinking all sorts. I've basically had a bit of an issue my whole life with breathing & can recall in childhood

Chest infection??
I have mild asthma usually, which flares up when I have a cold etc... I am prone to chest infections too. I only have ventolin inhaler, no preventor... I took a bad cold about 3 weeks ago which came with the cough and increased wheezing and low peak flow. My cold is all gone now except I still have

First time here. Difficulty cycling
Hi. This community was recommended to me by my wife, who swears by the HU Thyroid group. I'm 48, not terribly fit and was diagnosed with asthma when I was about 11, although it's never really been a big deal for me. In the last few years, though, I've found that any colds I get go to my chest, which

Rattling
I've got a rattle which seems to be on the right side of my chest and seems to go down my side. I am taking all my hayfever drugs and I am taking my Seretide as prescribed. I've been taking my Ventolin a bit more too. I have been coughing as well. I've done my peak flow reading which is 450, about normal

Poorly controlled Asthma?
Thanks in advance for any advice / help :) 41-year-old male who was has had Asthma since birth. For the most part, lead a perfectly 'normal' life, apart from occasions where Asthma flare-ups (combined with hayfever) slowed me down. More than my fair share of chest infections etc and didn't help that

Asthma - excess mucus production (I'm new here)
Hi, I was diagnosed with Asthma 2 years ago, however have been unable to get it fully under control. I have tried a variety of inhalers and other medications which have offered varying degrees of assistance but it has never been under control. I now produce lots of extremely thick mucus and have blocked

Has anyone else been told to use Pulmicort nebs after exercising?
I am not awfully well at present, goodness knows why. Anyhow went to have the Prednisolone discussion with doctor this morning, as peak flow has been hovering round red zone for days now. He, like my consultant, do not want me to stop exercising, I explained I was having to use a lot of Ventolin to

Worried about GP appointment and feeling trapped

The fostair 200/6 has helped a bit and my twitchy lungs hurt a lot less but they still are flaring up from exposure to everything perfumes, deodorants washing powder the lot. I'm still taking the blue reliever inhaler 8-10 times a day, as the hospital drs said

Prednisolone diary - May
I've been on prednisolone for almost exactly a year now. In that time, I've developed severe daily episodes of sweating, tachycardia, nausea and shaking. Even more debilitating has been the profound fatigue. Neither my rheumatologist, respirologist, cardiologist nor GP have been able to offer any explanation

Rant: Does anyone else feel like giving up on meds etc.
So just saw my consultant today, and come away feeling so disheartened. "Yes you have real pathology, you must look after yourself, but not sure what else I can do ". I've been in orange peak flow for weeks and fully stepped up, but not taking oral steroids although now in the zone. Consultant "well

Growing concerns but feeling ignored.
Hi everyone, I'm new here but I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I've had asthma since I was about 15 (I'm 24 now) and it's been pretty well controlled up until a few months ago. It started with me getting breathless really easily - not being able to walk up a hill that had previously not caused
