Xofigo

Hope this is helpful for those of you looking at going on Xofigo.

Given stronger pain meds and will get direct and xofigo radiation soon. What should he expect? PSA is skyrocketing and because PSA and pain only increased in the 5 months of Xtandi, his chance of positive response to zytiga is only about 20%, according to research studies.

Anyone know can I expect about the same side effects for remaining 5 injections of Xofigo? I am told it could take 2 weeks to 2 months for the Xofigo to relieve the Cancer pain. Any experience with this?

Onc wants to try Xofigo and Zytiga now. He received his 3month lupron shot but is considering ceasing all other treatments. I'm not sure how to guide him. He is 45 years old and we have two children under 8 years old. He was diagnosed 1 year ago with a very aggressive cancer, PSA over 2700.

First Xofigo treatment scheduled for May 23. Any tips or advice and what to expect from those who have been through Xofigo treatments  would be appreciated. Thanks. Now doing taking 2mg of Hydromorphone every 2 hours to control the pain. Keeps it at about level 2 or 3 most of the time.

If you have taken Xofigo (Radium-223) will you please share with me what other treatments, if any, you also took simultaneously with the Xofigo.   Please include treatments like traditional hormone therapy as well as any of the newer  drugs or chemotherapy. Thanks Joel

Referred to a radiation oncologist for Xofigo consultation. Expect to start Xofigo in a couple of weeks. Medical oncologist suggests starting Xgeva again. Currently still on Eligard injections every 6 months.

I have heard that Xofigo has been approved for a second round of six injections.  Can anyone confirm that?

Has anyone advanced from either of these therapies to Doxetaxel (drip infusion chemotherapy) or radium-223 (Xofigo) therapy? If so, what have been your experiences? Lastly, has anyone skipped any of these therapies in favor of a canabis based therapy? Any thoughts/comments? Peace. Greg

Have un through most of the usual treatments (lupron, doxetaxel, zytida, xofigo and xtandi.  In surprising good health, for now.  It won't last, so I want to try and get ahead of this with any ideas this brain trust comes up with.  Also very willing to share my knowledge and PC.

Looking for guidance on discontinuing Xtandi and moving on to Xofigo, give it more time or some other treatment.  Was castrate resistant 8 months post diagnosis and while on docetaxel and lupron.  Onc visit and lab work scheduled in 6 weeks.

Jon was going to begin Xofigo and Zytiga after consulting with Dr. Quinn at USC, but this has not happened yet and seems it will be delayed until this issue is taken care of.  I would love to hear anyone's own experiences.  Jon is a Gleason 9 and you can check out his profile. 

On to Xofigo if PSA still not decreasing on Xtandi.  Minimal pain for past year and still very active.  PSA nadir of 12 in October, now 32.  Two very young kids at home.

My oncologists and uro had also mentioned Xofigo, and I had hoped for this, but they want to hold off, as my bone mets are relatively stable---but if I could have had Xtandi, Xgeva and Xofigo, I could have been rated "triple X"----wouldn't that be ironic?.........

Twelve years later I've had nearly all the available treatments - ADT, Leukine, Thalidomide, Curcumin, Provenge, Zytiga, Xtandi, Taxotere chemo, Xofigo and more chemo. I'm still here though very much weakened by the T deprivation. My QoL is pretty good, thanks to my wonderful wife.
