Recent 2020 research report, and one in 2017 showing Xofigo may have a much higher risk of serious side effects on bone marrow than thought!
Unfortunately, some of us here have been suspecting this, due to personal experience: "Twenty-three patients received
Xofigo
at UF Health, and one was lost to follow-up. Sixteen patients (73%) completed the full course (six doses) of
Xofigo
, while six did not.

Abiraterone Failure
(have ruled out BRCA2+ mutation...also I believe we have ruled out AR-V7 expression)..my alkaline phosphate remains good at 45...next choice seems to be enzalutamide (I responded well to Casodex and hope to not be cross-sensitive vis-à-vis abiraterone) and

How to get cell counts back to normal after Radium 223 (Xofigo) first dose?
Since my Dad had his first dose of Radium 223 (
Xofigo
), a few months ago now, his cell counts; Neutrophils, white blood cells, Heamoglobin and platelets have decreased. There was mention of a blood transfusion but I don't think it is necessary yet.

Anyone taking Darolutamide develope asthenia, a known side effect? I've read similar SEs with Xtandi, so is this with all lutamide drugs?
Last summer this combo was losing effectiveness, so MO took him off the Lynparza (because it would be too hard on his blood counts with
Xofigo
). MO also switched his steroid from prednisone to dexamethasone (to extend Zytiga) then started
Xofigo
last Sept.

Who has been on Xofigo? What were side effects and outcome?
Saw my onc yesterday and he would like me to start
Xofigo
. I'm currently taking Xtandi and I've had an Orchiectomy so no other drugs. When my PSA reached 123 I went on Xtandi which knocked it down to 6 but then 3 mos later it was 12 then 22 and now is 25. I should also mention I'm BRCA2.

Xofigo (Radium 223) to take with anything else as PSA levels have rocketed since coming off hormone treatment?
My father is hormone resistant and been fighting prostate cancer since 2013. He is 82, a recent scan showed his cancer hasn't spread to organs so has been approved to try Radium 223. His PSA levels have rocketed to 400 which is higher than when he had been on any hormone treatment, which he was taken

Darolutamide vs Proxalutamide - for a Hail Mary??
He then started
Xofigo
, and after the 4th injection, suffered bone marrow failure, which we are dealing with now, via RBC infusions. MO said to stop Zytiga, as it is no longer helping.

After 4th Xofigo injection, bone marrow 'crashed'? - Cancer or side effect from Xofigo?? Next step??
Xofigo
treatment #5 and #6 may be permanently put on hold. Oncologist said 95% chance cancer is filling up bone marrow, so marrow can't recover/rebuild, and nothing he can do but give transfusions as needed, and watch numbers to see if they improve.

Mekinist, used off label, reversed bone marrow failure - June 2019 article
When the
Xofigo
was stopped in August 2014, the PSA had risen to over 120. Bill's chance for living another six months were less than one in 10. Up to this point, another doctor was managing his case.

Severe joint pain while on Zytiga + dexamethasone + temazepam (for insomnia from dexamethasone) along with xofigo and xgeva
After taxotere, then 1-1/2 years doing very well on Lynparza + Zytiga + Prednisone + Xgeva, PSA went up (last July - 5 months ago) so stopped Oliparib and switched steroids to dexamethasone (higher, 4mg. doses at first, now tapered down to 1mg) and added
Xofigo
for widespread bone mets.

Repeat Xofigo
Someone recently asked if
Xofigo
can be repeated. According to this small study, in select patients, toxicity was not increased and time to progression seems extended.

Xofigo first then Lu177??
However, there is only about a 30% acceptance rate into the Triton2 trial so
Xofigo
may be the answer for now. Now my question is; If I do the
Xofigo
now, will that disqualify me for future Lu177 or Ac225 treatments.

Not Qualified For Xofigo
The Doc said you can have
xofigo
should the symptoms arises. It does not have any impact on your PSA whethet it will rise or not. it kills the bone cells that are causing the symptoms.
