AF and Bariatric Surgery
my cardiologist has referred me to a bariatric clinic. My BMI is just under 33 right now. I have underlying cardiomyopathy, and the cardiologist thinks ablation carries too much risk. So I expect that bariatric surgery is a potential solution in this case. According to a medical study I found,

Why it is important to advocate for yourself
I have been on this journey for many years and have shared most of my experience. I want to share the latest snafu, because it is so infuriating. I went through the transplant evaluation in 2021. Completed all the tests and was told this: My BMI was too high and that on the nuclear test, they found

I am currently awaiting bariatric surgery & ive just found out I have angina. Will this rule me out? Would it be advisable for me to go ahead with the surgery? Has anyone had the surgery with heart problems? Thank you x

medConfidential Bulletin , 8th December 2023
Another bulletin that should be required reading for anyone concerned about who has access to any of their health data held by the NHS in England. I'm not sure if any of this is relevant to Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland. It talks about, among other things, the National Data Opt-Out. I opted out

HI I have just joined this group in the hope that it will help me achieve my weight loss goals. I feel like I need to be able to chat with people who are going through the same as me and who will understand my struggles without any judgement. I am in a really down phase at the moment and am struggling

Bariatric surgery, what do you think?
I've been thinking about doing a stomach reduction surgery (gastric sleeve) because I can't lose weight. Since I have problems with my thyroid (RAI ablation in 2012) I gained 25 kg(90 kg in the past and now I've 115/1,87 cm)), I have tried all the treatments(ndt, synthetic) that have not yielded results

hypothyroidism ?
Iāve not felt myself for awhile . Heavy more frequent periods , tiredness , not losing weight all of a sudden ( when I had bariatric surgery ). Had private blood tests which showed higher than normal levels of prolactin and low folate levels . Vitamin D was fine probably because Iām taking high strength

Endo - Anti-Inflammatory Diet and Supplements for Pain Managment and Fertility
Hi All, I have spent years of suffering from fertility issues and increasing pain from my endo. Before Christmas I started a weight loss diet and started doing a daily walk of 30-45 minutes in the hope of improving my symptoms and helping my fertility. While I started to feel better mood wise and weight

weight loss and bloating loss after surgery?
so Iāve steadily gained quite a rotund stomach over the last 9 months I reckon. Since January when my bleeding and bloating became horrific. My question is - will I lose this bloating and hopefully some pounds on the scale after my surgery? Or is this life now?

Follow Up With Dr
I finally saw my Dr yesterday regarding the report from my fibroscan in April , (quick recap: 360cap/21.5kpaā¦.bmi 40ā¦..gastro advised bariatric surgery and nothing else) I told my dr that there is no way I would have major surgery and put anaesthetic through my already bad liver, she agreed and said

A case study post bariatric surgery
For anyone who has access to twitter, this case study posted yesterday might be of some interest. Probably as much for the discussion as the original case. (Don't get too excited! It is just another case where the origination of the problem doesn't get blamed. As I see it, the cause was iatrogenic and

finally heard from gastroenterologist
hi everyone, I finally received my letter this morning regarding my fibroscan, the letter said that my kpa was 21.5 which is in the cirrhotic brackets, the iq median was 28% therefore the accuracy could be debateable, that with the high bmi the procedure was perhaps quite challenging, the cap was confirmed
